As we understand, the framers did not splice the wall sheathing 12” above and below the I-Joist
bearing location at the exterior walls, as shown on Detail B1/SD.1 & B3/SD.1 of the revised
structural plan set dated 03-03-2023. We have reviewed the anticipated loads and have
determined the following are acceptable alternatives:
• Fasten the 2nd level studs to the 1st level studs w/ CS18 flat strap @ max 48” OC. See
Metal Connector Schedule on Sheet S0.0 for fastening requirements. This option is only
applicable where the 1st level & 2nd level studs are aligned.
OR
• Fasten every other 2nd level stud to bottom plate w/ SDWC15450 @ max 32” OC
• Fasten 2nd level bottom plate to rim board w/ SDWC15600 @ max 24” OC.
• Fasten every other 1st level stud to top plate w/ SDWC15600 @ max 32” OC.
• Fasten 1st level double top plate to rim board w/ SDWC15600 @ max 24” OC.
