These standards are set forth in the International Property Maintenance Code and the Florida Building Code and were adopted as part of the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances in Chapter 6, Article II, Section 6-16. A code enforcement inspection at 303 6TH ST was conducted on 4/24/2023. The City of Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement has found your property to be in violation of the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances: NATURE OF VIOLATION: The hedges located on the east side of your property adjacent to East Coast Drive are interfering with the line of sight for vehicles,pedestrians,and bicyclists who are approaching the intersection. APPLICABLE CODE: Sec. 24-157 -(c)Corner lots. Fences,walls, similar structures and landscaping on corner lots may create obstacles to clear vehicular,bicycle and pedestrian sight visibility resulting in a public safety hazard.Notwithstanding the following provisions, clear sight visibility for fences,walls, landscaping or any structure proposed along the street side of any corner lot shall be reviewed and approved by the planning and community development director, or designee, prior to issuance of the permit required to construct,place or replace any such feature. Sight triangles as defined within section 24-17 shall remain free of visual obstruction. (3) Similarly,hedges and landscaping on corner lots shall be maintained at a height that does not interfere with clear vehicular, pedestrian or bicycle sight visibility or use of the public sidewalk or bike path. This letter requests that the noted violation(s) be corrected by reducing the height of the hedges so that vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists approaching the intersection are able to see traffic in the intersection within ten(10) days of the receipt of this notice. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Failure to correct the violation by the required date may result in this case being referred to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate resulting in fines up to two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per day.
