The proposed drainage plan includes a house and 3 retention ponds with a 1-foot depth. SOIL TYPES AND GROUNDWATER ELEVATIONS The site contains one soil group that is defined as follows by the United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.): · 71 – Urban land This soil information was utilized to establish the Curve Numbers within the post development. CURVE NUMBERS (CN) Standard SCS procedures have been used to develop Curve Number’s (CN’s) for the post-development conditions. POST-DEVELOPMENT STORMWATER CALCULATIONS Based on the impervious area of the lot, a required 1,088 is to be held by the ponds. To ensure that the supplied treatment volume meets the required treatment volume, the inground storage and the total pond storage were calculated. Refer to the Delta Volume Calculations. The Estimated Seasonal High Groundwater Level at this site was tested to be approximately 2 feet below the existing ground surface. Therefore, the depth to ESHWT from the Bottom is 2 feet. Our work was performed in general accordance with our proposal dated November 7, 2022. The work was performed to measure the groundwater level at the site for a period of 2 months. PROJECT INFORMATION The site for the subject project is located at 163 Belvedere Street - Lot 593 in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The general site location is shown on Figure 1. FIELD EXPLORATION AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING A piezometer was installed on November 8, 2022, at the subject property. The groundwater level was measured approximately every 2 weeks until January 3, 2023. An aerial obtained from Google Earth, which shows the approximate Piezometer location, is included as the Piezometer Location Plan, Figure 2. GPS coordinates for the piezometer location were obtained from Google Earth and then uploaded to a Garmin GPSMAP78 hands-held receiver. Prior to installing the piezometer, a utility locate request was submitted to the Sunshine 811 call center. Once the site utilities were located or cleared, our field crew mobilized to the site. The piezometer location, as shown on Figure 2, should be considered approximate. AUGER BORING AND PIEZOMETER INSTALLATION A borehole was advanced at the piezometer location to a depth of about 6 feet below the existing ground surface. The boring was advanced using a hand-held bucket auger in general accordance with the methodology outlined in ASTM D 1452. Representative soil samples were recovered from the boring at 1-foot intervals and returned to our laboratory for testing and classification. A summary of the field procedures is included in Appendix A. Once the boring was complete, a piezometer (PZ-1) was installed within the borehole. The purpose of this piezometer was to measure fluctuations in the groundwater level over a period of two months. The piezometer consisted of a 2-inch diameter PVC pipe string, 8 feet in length, that was installed to the bottom of the borehole such that approximately 2 feet of pipe extended above the ground surface. The 163 Belvedere Street – Lot 593 MAE Project No. 0149-0006 Page | 2 bottom 5 feet of the pipe string was screened, while the top 3 feet consisted of solid pipe. The pipe annulus was then backfilled with fine 20/30 sand along the 5-foot screened interval and then a bentonite seal to the ground surface. Upon completion of the groundwater monitoring period, the piezometer was removed, and its borehole was backfilled with soil cuttings. The location of the piezometer is included on Figure 2, and a Piezometer Construction Log is included as an attachment to this report. LABORATORY TESTING Representative soil samples obtained during our field exploration were visually classified by a geotechnical engineer using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) in general accordance with ASTM D 2488. A key to the soil boring logs and a description of the soil classification system are attached to this report. Quantitative laboratory testing was performed on selected samples of the soils encountered during the field exploration to better define the composition of the soils encountered and to provide data for correlation to their anticipated strength and compressibility characteristics. The laboratory testing determined the natural moisture and organic contents, and the percent passing a U.S. No. 200 sieve (percent fines) of selected soil samples. The results of the laboratory testing are shown in the Summary of Laboratory Test Results included as an attachment to this report. Also, these results are shown on the Generalized Soil Profile on Figure 3, and on the Log of Boring record at the respective depths from which the tested samples were recovered. A summary of the laboratory test procedures is also included in as an attachment to this report. GENERAL SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS General Soil Profile Graphical presentation of the generalized subsurface conditions is presented on the Generalized Soil Profile, Figure 3. A detailed soil boring log is also included as an attachment to this report. When reviewing the soil profile and boring log, it should be understood that the soil conditions will vary away from the boring location. The following table summarizes the soil conditions encountered. General Soil Profile Typical Depth (ft) Soil Description USCS 1 From To 0 2 Fine sand SP 2 3 Fine sand with silt, little organic fines SP-SM 3 6 Fine sand SP 1. Unified Soil Classification System Groundwater Levels The groundwater level was measured and recorded at the time of piezometer installation, and then measured approximately every two weeks for a period of 2 months. The measured groundwater level at the time of piezometer installation is shown on the Generalized Soil Profile, Figure 3, and on the soil boring log. The groundwater measurements recorded at installation and during the monitoring period are presented on the Piezometer and Groundwater Level Measurements table, included as an attachment to 163 Belvedere Street – Lot 593 MAE Project No. 0149-0006 Page | 3 this report. It should be anticipated that the groundwater level will fluctuate seasonally and with changes in climate. KEY TO BORING LOGS – USCS Soil Classification Soil classification of samples obtained at the boring locations is based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Coarse grained soils have more than 50% of their dry weight retained on a #200 sieve. Their principal descriptors are: sand, cobbles and boulders. Fine grained soils have less than 50% of their dry weight retained on a #200 sieve. They are principally described as clays if they are plastic and silts if they are slightly to non-plastic. Major constituents may be added as modifiers and minor constituents may be added according to the relative proportions based on grain size.
