DECK MATERIALS & LABOR (completed Nov 2022) Originally intended to simply repair some older boards and strengthen deck that was not ideally built before hosting friends for a community fund-raiser. Went ahead with the repairs understanding it did not require a permit for minor changes after a chat with Dan Arlington. However, as more and more was revealed, the job grew and I was advised that a number of areas would have to be re-built with new concrete embedded posts, etc. Karl was helping me with a lot of it and I turned it over to him to finish. He was charged with bringing everything up to the best standards and to improve safety (adding 3 steps) to what was a drop-off from pool. I did not pay attention to the possible need for a permit, given the changes, and am applying for that now, retroactively please. I apologize for my oversight or any error and take responsibility for that. The details of what was done are as follows below: • 4x4 Posts, installed approx. 24' deep with concrete encapsulated footers (shallower (but never less than 12” if rock is encountered) • 4x4 Trusses • 2x8 Stringers (placed 16’ apart) • 4x8 Exterior Beams • 6"x5/8 Engineered Lag Bolts • 2 1/2” or larger SS screws All materials pressure treated #2 or better grade lumber. Owner providing and installing the composite Deck Boards Demolition completed by owner The cost for materials and labor is $13,650 Karl Bednar Coastal Outdoor Construction LLC Deck | Fence | Pergola | Landscape Current projects with help of Earthscapes (to be done May-June 2023) 2. REPLACE CURRENT GARDEN PATH ON FRONT HILL We will replace 128 sq. feet of the current 20-24 in. wide path, using approximately the same width and layout of path using new pavers to replace all the existing pavers (whether functional, cracked, or broken) that are currently in place. See aerial photo and red line trace of current path. Owner responsible for removal of existing pavers. The Catalina Pavers you selected are standard 2 3/8 thick and will be set to allow as much water penetration as possible as per your instructions. We will use no more than 2-3 inches RESO23-0053 Dan Giovannucci 380 5th Street A.B 2 of paver base and sand and replace any older base that is mostly gone (absorbed into soil over time). Where necessary, we will improve the safety of the path with some minor leveling improvements. This will stabilize and also reduce run-off and increase water capture- retention. We will endeavor to minimize any digging to protect tree roots in the area. Quote attached. $ 3,579 3. WALKWAY TO HOUSE AND BASE OF DRIVEWAY To reduce runoff from front driveway into street, we want to re-orient some of the current existing impermeable pavers (71 sq. feet) by re-locating them, away from the west side of the drive where there is ample absorption, to instead sit along the front edge of the drive to slow water movement and capture the gravel-shell driveway materials that go to the street drains during heavy rains. We will replace and level any necessary base lost under those existing 71 sq. ft. of walkway pavers with up to 2 inches of base-sand mix leveled. Owner will replace with own 1.25 inch pavers. Quote attached. $ 1092 4. FRAME AND SET PAVER BASE ONTO BACK CONCRETE PATIO On 260 sq. feet of the existing rear concrete patio, adjacent to deck, we will frame and set - 2-3 inches of paver base+sand in preparation for owner pavers. Set-up will take into account owner desire to modulate and slow current water flow off the patio and direct some toward existing hedge and shrub plantings. Owner will provide and set own 1.25 inch pavers. Quote: $840 Orlando L.
