AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF ATLANTIC BEACH, AMENDING CHAPTER 1, GENERAL
PROVISIONS, BY ADDING SECTION 1-5 (b) , CHARITABLE
CONTRIBUTIONS PROHIBITED, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE:
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach receives numerous requests
from various charitable, non-profit, and other worthy causes for
contributions of City funds, and
WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 10 of the Florida Constitution
prohibits the City from giving, lending, or using its taxing power
or credit to aid any corporation, association, partnership or
person.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. Section 1-5 (b) of Chapter 1, General Provisions,
is hereby added to read as follows:
Sec. 1-5 (b) . Charitable Contributions Prohibited.
The City shall not contribute City funds to any
A charitable, non-profit, or other worthy causes.
SECTION 2 . This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage and adoption.
