AN ORDINANCE Closing to Public Usage the Streets in Saltair,
and Authorizing the Mayor and Town Clerk to Respectively Execute and
Attest a Deed of said Streets.
Whereas , the Town Council of the Town of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, did, on October 5, 1938, through E. L. Chaisson, its President,
direct a letter to the Board of Public Instruction of Duval County,Florida
pledging its municipal co-operation with the said Board in its program
devoted towards the construction of a new public school building in the
Saltair area of said Town; and
Whereas , in and by the said letter the said Council did agree
to procure and authorize the execution of whatever written instruments
might by the said Board be from time to time required in the furtherment
of its said program; and
Whereas, the said Board has now made it manifest that it
desires the immediate enactment of this Ordinance together with the
execution of the herein mentioned Deed ; NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. All of the streets, avenues , ways, parks and othE
public places, in and throughout the following portion of that certain
sub-division in and of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, known as
Saltair" , are hereby vacated, closed and abandoned and their use by the
public in any manner whatsoever expressly prohibited:
Beginning at an iron stake at the southwesterly corner of
Lot Five Hundred Sixty-one ( 561) , of Section Three (3) of Saltair, as
per plat recorded in Plat Book 10 , page 16 , of the current public
records of Duval County, Florida , the said point being the inter-
section of the easterly line of Poinsetta Street with the northerly
line of Park Avenue , as shown by said plat ; thence northerly along

the easterly line of said Poinsetta Street and the prolongation
thereof for a distance of six hundred fifty (650) feet to an iron
stake , said iron stake being at the southwesterly corner of Lot
Three Hundred Thirty-one (331) of said plat; thence northeasterly
in a straight line three hundred sixty-four and ninety-eight
hundredths (364.98) feet to an iron stake, said stake being on
the westerly line of Old Sherry Drive and being the Northeasterly
corner of Lot Three Hundred Sixty-four (364) of said plat; thence
southerly along the westerly line of Old Sherry Drive six hundred
twenty-six and Fifty-two hundredths (626.52) feet to an iron
stake on the westerly boundary line of Park Avenue ; thence south-
westerly along the Westerly boundary line of Park Avenue three
hundred seventy-three 373) feet to an iron stake; thence westerly
along the northerly boundary line of said Park Avenue five hundred
twenty-seven and twenty hundredths (527 .20) feet more or less to
point of beginning ; and any lands lying between the easterly
boundary line of the land herein described and the westerly
boundary of said Old Sherry Drive ; containing 9.74 (Nine and Seventy-fou]
hundredths) acres , more or less."
Section 2: George H. Smith, Mayor, is authorized and
directed to forthwith execute on behalf of the said Town of Atlantic
Beach, and C. R. Frazier, Town Clerk, is likewise authorized and
directed to simultaneously attest , a deed unto Saltair Holding Company,
a corporation organized under and existing by virtue of the laws of the
State of Florida, of all of the right , title, claim, and interest of the
said Town in and to each and every, all and singular the streets, aven-
ues , ways, parks and other public places , lying in and throughout the
above described section of said "Saltair".
