The contractor may install the "Break-Away" 12"deep x 28"wide retaining wall concrete
foundation independent in lieu of the combined monolithic slab and foundation indicated
on Section 2/S-3, structural sheet S-3, dated 06/19/2023. The original structural analysis
of the retaining wall utilized an independent foundation. The monolithic slab and
foundation rationale was originally developed to minimize the number of concrete pump
set-ups and concrete pours. The contractor may butt the adjoining monolithic slab into
the side face of the 12"deep x 28" wide retaining wall concrete foundation OR the
contractor may install the adjoining monolithic slab directly on top of the 12"deep x 28"
wide retaining wall concrete foundation. All specified foundation reinforcing shall
remain as originally designed.
