AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PAYiPiriNT OF LICENSE FEES AND FIXING THE
AMOUNT OF SUCH LICENSE FEES TO BE PAID BY PERSONS , FIRMS , CORPORATIONS
AND ASSOCIATIONS TO ENGAGE IN OR MANAGE ANY BUSINESS , PROFESSION OR
OCCUPATION IN THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA: REGULATING THE
ISSUANCE OF SUCH LICENSE: PROVIDING FOR THE REVOCATION OF LICENSES:
PROVIDING FOR THE QUALIFICATION OF CERTAIN SKILLED CONTRACTORS:
PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT HEREOF, FIXING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION
HEREOF: REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND FIXING THE DATE
WHEN THE SAi.E SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY,FLORIDA.
SECTION 1. That no person, firm, corporation or association
shall engage in or iaanage any business , profes,_ion or occupation within
the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County, Florida , without first having
paid to the Town Clerk and fee fm such license hereinafter named, to wit:

SECTION 2. That no license shall be issued to any type of con-
tractor unless ;
a) Electrical Contractors shall have duly quali-
fied with the City of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, in accordance
with all provisions of law of said City regulating the conduct of said
business thereat ; and
b) Plumbing Constractors shall have first passed a
recognized standard examination and duly qualified as such in some Town
or City in the State of Florida having a population of 2500 or more, and
shall present to the Building Inspector of the Town proof of such qualifi-
cation and the said Building Inspector shall have approved the application
for such a license; and
c) General Building Contractors shall have actively
engaged in such business for at least one year within five years from the
date of application for license , either as a contractor, the management
of such a business or shall have otherwise satisfied the Building Inspec-
tor of his proficiency in such business and the Building Inspector shall
have approved his application; and
d) All other types of contractors shall have fur-
nished satisfactory evidence to ti-..e Building Inspector of their competency,
reliability and proficiency in his particular occupation and the said
Building Inspector shall first approve an application for such a license.
SECTION 3. That venders of beer, wines and liquors shall pay
to the Town that fee set and provided for by the laws of the State of Flori-
da.
SECTION 4. The issuance of a license by the Town Clerk shall
in no wise relieve the holder thereof of responsibility for compliance
with all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances heretofore passed or which may
hereafter be passed by the Town Council of the said Town, regulating the
conduct of such business.
SECTION 5. That the Town Council by a three-fourths vote of all
members present, sitting in Regular Session, by hearing, after notification
to the holder that such hearing will be held, may revoke the license of any
person found guilty of fraud or conduct involving moral. turpitude.
SECTION 6. That the license year shall be from July 1st
June 30.
SECTION 7. That the Town Clerk , upon proper showing that the
issuance of a license for a full year, would work a hardship in any in-
stance during the period from July 1st to December 31st , may issue a half-
year's license and that persons applying for a license after December 31st
may be issued a half-year's license.
SECTION $. That any person violating any of the provisions of
this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not exceeding one hundred
dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned not more than ninety (90) days.
SECTION 9. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
flict herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed and that this
Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage .
