BE IT ORDAINED BY THF MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL C OUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1: A referendum election is hereby called to be held on the 011442t- 114day of 1950, for the ratification and approval, by the qualified electors of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County, Florida, of (a) Chapter 25676, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1949, Entitled "An Act to Amend Section 1 of Chapter 13907, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1929, the Same Being 'An Act to Fix the Territorial Limits of the Town of Atlantic Beach, to Provide for Its Government, and Prescribe Its Jurisdiction and Powers . Section 2 : The following described Notice shall for thirty consecutive days prior to said date of 3114.4f. c- J 1950, be published by the posting thereof at (1) the Town Hall of said Town, (2) the United States Post Office at said Town, and (3) at one other public place in said Town selected by the Town Manager thereof: 2- 0TICE To All qualified Electors of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County, Florida; a Municipal Corporation : You, and each of you, are hereby notified that a referendum election will be held on the )-I aA% day of 2)1L4../14., 1950, at the Town Hall of said Town, from seven o 'clock in the fore- noon until seven o ' clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of then and there securing the ratification and approval, by the qualified electors of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County, Florida, of a) Chapter 25676, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1949, Entitled An Act to Amend Section 1 of Chapter 13907, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1929, the Same Being 'An Act to Fix the Territorial Limits of the Town of Atlantic Beach, to Provide for Its Government, and Prescribe Its Jurisdiction and Powers . ' By Enlarging the Territorial Limits of Said Town to 3- Include All Streets, Road or Highways that have Heretofore been Adopted by the County Commissioners of Duval County as County Roads through Said Town, and Providing for a Referendum. " A true and correct certified copy of the entirety of each of the three above and foregoing said Special Acts is now on file for Public inspection at the said Town Hall. All persons who were qualified to vote at the last preceding general election in said Town and who at the time of said special election are qualified electors in all other respects, and also all persons entitled to register and who shall register and become qual- ified electors of said Town, shall be entitled to vote at said spe- cial election. The registration books of said Town will be open for the registration of electors who are not registered during the hours of 8 :30 o' clock A. M. to 5 :00 o'clock P. M. of each day except Satur- day and Sunday for the period from , 5- , 1950 to 9 Yh ate 1950, both inclusive . Kindly govern yourselves accordingly. Section 3 : A true and correct certified copy of the entirety of each of the three above and foregoing said Special Acts, to-wit, of the said Chapters 25676, 25677 and 25678, severally and respec- tively, shall continuously at all times save Sunday, and between the hours of 8 :30 o'clock A. M. , and 5 :00 o 'clock P. Y. , be avail- able for public inspection at the said Town Hall from the date of passage hereof to and including the said - / 4_-J day of 1950, upon which latter date said election shall be held as herein provided. Section 4 : The Town Council shall have prepared and furnished all necessary blanks and ballots and shall make all other necessary preparations for said election, and shall pay all expenses of said election out of the contingent fund of the Town Treasury. ' By Enlarging the Territorial Limits of Said Town to In- clude All Streets, Road or Highways that have Heretofore been Adopted by the County Commissioners of Duval County as County Roads through Said Town, and Providing for a Referendum." Each cross mark on said ballots in front of the word "For" shall constitute a vote, by the elector making such cross mark, ratifying and approving the Special Act or Acts in respect to which such cross mark shall be made ; each cross mark on said ballot in front of the word "Against" shall constitute a vote, by the elector making such cross mark, disapproving the Special Act or Acts in 6- respect to which such cross mark shall be made ; and if a majority of the votes cast as hereinabove provided shall be "For" ratification and approval of any certain one or certain ones of the aforesaid Special Acts, then such Special Act or Acts shall then and there , according to the provisions of the last Section thereof, become operative and effective. Section 5 : The Town Council, at least six days before the date of said election, shall appoint two (2) Inspectors and Cne (1 ) Clerk of Election to hold said election in the said Town. If any Inspector or the Clerk of Election so appointed shall fail to at- tend at the proper polling place at the time for opening the polls on the day of the election, the Inspector present shall fill the vacancy or vacancies ; and if all the Inspectors be absent, then present those persons/qualified to vote at said election shall fill the vacancies. The polls shall be opened at seven o 'clock in the fore- noon and closed at seven o 'clock in the afternoon, with an inter- mission of one half an hour between twelve and one o 'clock, and shall be located at the polling places used in the last Town gen- eral election; to-wit, the Town Hall. The Inspectors and Clerk of Election shall make out and sign duplicate returns of said election, and shall deliver one copy thereof to the Town Clerk, and one copy to the President of the Town Council, and said returns shall show the total number of the qualified electors of said Town actually voting at said election, and the number of votes cast respectively For" and "Against" the ratification and approval of each of the aforesaid three Special Acts . The Town Council shall, as soon as practicable, canvass, and declare, from the said returns of the Inspectors and Clerk of said Election, the results of said election; said results to show (1) the total number of the qualified electors actually voting at said election, and (2) the number of votes cast respectively "For" and "Against` the ratification and approval of 7- each of the aforesaid three special Acts . The Town Council shall then cause such results of the said election to be duly recorded in the Minutes of the said Council. Said election shall in all other respects be conducted as nearly as may be in compliance with the laws regulating the holding, returning, certifying, and canvassing of general Town elections . Section 6 : All persons who were qualified to vote at the last preceding general election in said Town and who at the time of said special election are qualified electors in all other respects, and also all persons entitled to register and who shall register and become qualified electors of said Town as herein provided, shall be entitled to vote at said special election. The Town Clerk, as Supervisor of registration, shall keep the registration books of said Town open for the registration of electors of said Town at all times during the hours of 8 :30 o 'clock A. M. to 5 :00 o 'clock P.
