It is recommended to have the dead tissue removed that could cause potential damages to the neighboring property of 386 2nd St (Mr. Scott Roberts residence) as well as the dead Sabal Palm for safety concerns. Thank you, Charles Florida ISA # FL -0512AU Arborist Solutions, LLC Jacksonville, Fl. 32256 Gene Washington 904-610-1130 September 8, 2022 FaverGray Homes Adis Ibranovic 415 Pablo Avenue, Suite 200 Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250 Dear Mr. Ibranovic, Per your request, I visited 393 4th Street Atlantic Beach, Florida 32233 to determine the health and condition of a Live Oak tree that was recently struck by lightning. The Live Oak (Quercus virginiana) is more than 48 inches DBH (diameter @ breast height) and is at the back property line near the fence. This tree was struck by lightning in the upper canopy and broke several limbs and damaged the trunk and bark. I recommend you hire a Certified Arborist to climb the tree without spikes and remove all limbs that have been broken/cracked by the lightning and cut them back to a lateral with healthy tissue. Also, have them verify there are no catastrophic damage/cracks in the affected tree parts. This is a mature tree and should have the resources to recover. However, the lightning damage may present itself in the next several months. I recommend having a certified Arborist monitor the tree in 3 months, and again at 6 months or sooner if changes are noticed. Additionally, the Live Oak is high on a mound and the tree protection and retaining wall have protected the tree from construction impact. Because of the lightning damage, I recommend that you irrigate the roots inside the dripline where possible at least 3 times a week for approximately an hour using a garden hose and rotary sprinkler for a month. This will give the tree it’s best chance at survival. If you have any questions, please call me at 904-610-1130. Sincerely, Gene Washington Certified Arborist FL5623-A PERMIT #: TREE21-0054 ADDRESS:393 4TH Street APPLICANT:Keith Faver PHONE:904 502 2934 EMAIL:agray@favergray.com CATEGORY DBH 8" - 13.9"# OF TREES INCHES OWED DBH 14" - 29.9"# OF TREES INCHES OWED DBH 30"+# OF TREES INCHES OWED TOTAL INCHES REMOVED PRESERVATION CREDIT TOTAL OWED (MAX 40" REDUCTION) OAK 32 reduced 19.49"28.51 48 Laurel Oak 8 4 48 and/or Live Oak 42" = 20 " reduction 4,219.48$ Live Oak 62" = 20 " reduction MARITIME SPECIES 13 reduced 7.92"11.58 19.5 Red Cedar 13 1 19.5 and/or 1,713.84$ PALM 21 reduced 12.59"18.91 31.5 Cabbage 13 1 19.5 and/or Cabbage 8 1 12 $2,798.68 OTHER and/or 58 59 and/or $8,732.00 CATEGORY INCHES # OF TREES STAFF NOTES PROPOSED- PLANT PROPOSED- PAY CATEGORY INCHES # OF TREES STAFF NOTES FINAL- PLANT FINAL- PAY OAK 59.42 OAK Live Oak 6 5 double credit (29.42") remaining 0.58" towards maritime mitigation MARITIME SPECIES 11 MARITIME SPECIES Red Cedar 11 1 PALM 11 PALM Sabal Palm 11 1 OTHER OTHER TOTALS 82" TREES REMOVED PROPOSED MITIGATION FINAL MITIGATION DBH 30"+ = 1: 3 NEW CONSTRUCTION MITIGATION RATIOS: (inches removed : inches replaced) DBH 10" -13.9"= 1: 1.5 DBH 14" - 29.9" = 1: 2 Status in accordance with the City of Altantic Beach code of ordinances in effect at the time of application submittal.
