I obtained my Master's degree in Environmental Science and
Policy from Columbia University, and my main focus was on
the impact of drought and flooding on vulnerable populations.
During my studies, I worked directly with the city of New York
to help develop an approach to deploying electric vehicle
charging stations to support the city's resilience plan.
Immediately following my degree, I began working with the
Center for Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) and the

World Bank to analyze climate risk models and how to
incorporate geospatial data to better predict risk.
Following Hurricane Sandy, I helped start and run Friends of
Rockaway, which was a non-profit organization dedicated to
helping at -risk families from losing housing as a result of the
storm. I served as an active member of the Rockaway
Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and helped
to create the community's post -disaster recovery plan.
I am interested in joining the environmental stewardship
committee because I want to protect the natural spaces in
Atlantic Beach and I want to enhance the experience of living
here for all of our community. For me, this is such a special
place and the unique environment is a large part of it. This is
where my wife and her family grew up, and it is where my two
boys will grow up. A generation from now, I want to make sure
my kids and anyone else who comes here can recognize how
wonderful this town is!
