A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH AUTHORIZING THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE TWO POLICE VEHICLES FOR A TOTAL PRICE OF $97,406
FROM ALAN JAY FLEET SALES UTILIZING FUNDS IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 BUDGET
APPROPRIATED FOR THAT PURPOSE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, each year, the Atlantic Beach Police Department evaluates the vehicles in its fleet to
ensure that they are safe and effective to be used for public safety activities during routine service and in
response to emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department evaluates the needs of the agency annually to determine when
vehicles needed to be purchased to provide police service to the community; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department can purchase vehicles from one or more State of Florida
purchasing contracts or secure favorable pricing and terms of contract from other vendors; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department desires to utilize a State of Florida contract to purchase two
vehicles from Alan Jay Fleet sales for $48,703 each, amounting to a total price of $97,406; and
WHEREAS, following the purchase of the vehicles, the vehicles will be outfitted further utilizing
funds in account 2002-52-64-01.
WHEREAS, the funds necessary to purchase and outfit two vehicles at an amount not to exceed
$60,000 per vehicle are allocated in account 001-2002-521-64-01 in the FY 2023-24 Police Department
budget; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute contracts
and purchase orders in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
