A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, AMENDING
RESOLUTION 00-07 REGARDING THE ATLANTIC BEACH TEEN
COUNCIL, PROVIDING THAT THE TEEN COUNCIL OPERATE UNDER
THE AUSPICES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION
ADVISORY CONIl~IITTEE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on September 14, 19.94, the City Commission adopted
Resolution 94-30 which originally created the Atlantic Beach Teen
Council, and
WHEREAS, the Teen Council thereafter became inactive for a
period of time whereupon, on March 27, 2002, the City Commission
adopted Resolution 00-07 which again created the Atlantic Beach
Teen Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted Resolution 02-13
creating the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee, and
has directed that the Teen Council continue its activities under
the auspices of said Committee
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the
City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Resolution 00-07 are
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec.2. Creation, Composition, Qualification: There is hereby
created and established a Teen Council composed of members, all of
whom shall be at least thirteen (13) and no more than nineteen (19)
years of age, (except if also on the Cultural Arts and Recreation
Advisory Committee) residents of the City, and shall serve without
compensation. One member of the Cultural Arts and Recreational
Advisory Committee shall either be a member of the Teen Council or
an adult supervisor to same.
Sec.3. Adult Advisor, Commission Liaison: The Mayor shall
designate one City Commissioner to serve as liaison to the Teen
Council. Also, one member of the Cultural Arts and Recreation
Advisory Committee shall either be the primary adult supervisor of
the Teen Council or be a member of said Council. Additional adult
advisors may volunteer to work with the Teen Council under the
supervision of the primary adult supervisor or Committee member on
said Council and at least one adult advisor must be in attendance
at all meetings of the Teen Council.

Sec. 4. Duties: The Teen Council shall submit its annual
budget and any other requests in writing to the Cultural Arts and
Recreation Advisory Committee and the Commission liaison on all
proposed Teen Council activities and programs to be sponsored
and/or funded by the City, and the Committee, upon consideration of
such requests, shall make recommendations to the City Commission.
Sec.5. Organization; officers: The Teen Council shall have
the authority to organize themselves and appoint a chairman, vice
chairman, and any other officers they deem advisable. The Teen
Council may draft rules to govern the conduct of their business,
which shall be approved by the Cultural Arts and Recreation
Advisory Committee."
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage and adoption.
