RESOLUTION NO. 02-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ALL WHO SERVED ON THE
CULTURAL ARTS BOARD
WHEREAS, the Arts and Entertainment Board, later renamed the Cultural Arts Board, was
created by Resolution No. 94-10 on March 14, 1994; and
WHEREAS, since its inception thirty people have served as members of the Cultural Arts Board
Board; and
WHEREAS, through the creative ideas of the board members many worthwhile and enjoyable
artistic and cultural programs have been initiated, including First Night celebrations, concerts in the park,
artistic programs and activities at Atlantic Beach Elementary School, a sculpture competition, and a
Gallery Without Walls program which provided a means for local artists to display their work throughout
the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has deemed that a more comprehensive approach to the
cultural, artistic and recreational needs of the city may be achieved by combining the Recreation Advisory
Board and the Cultural Arts Board into one body and on July 8, 2002, by adoption of Resolution No. 02-
13, created a new committee known as the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee to plan,
promote, and review artistic, recreational and cultural programs.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission recognizes and appreciates all who served and enhanced
the quality of life for the citizens of Atlantic Beach through their service on the Cultural Arts Board.
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby recognizes Eloise Koerber, Joyce Totter, Mary-Lou
Boyer, Kathleen Smith Beaudreau, Margie Van de Guchte, and Janelle Wagoner who were members of
the Cultural Arts Board when the new committee was established, and invites them to continue their
service to the City and their fellow citizens through other City boards or committees in which they may be
interested.
