WHEREAS, Suzanne Shaughnessy has served the citizens of Atlantic Beach with distinction for six years,
having been elected to Commission Seat 4 in 1993 and to Mayor Seat 1 in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne Shaughnessy represented the citizens and voters of Atlantic Beach in a forthright
manner always striving to serve the best interests of the city and all its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne Shaughnessy demonstrated a keen interest in beautification projects, beach
renourishment, the environment, and in preserving the quality of life in Atlantic Beach; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne Shaughnessy worked tirelessly toward the acquisition of property such as Dutton
elIsland, the Tresca property now known as Tide Views Preserve, and a parcel of land formerly owned by
Centex Homes,which will be enjoyed by future generations of Atlantic Beach residents as well as residents
of Jacksonville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, hereby
expresses deep appreciation for the contributions of Suzanne Shaughnessy and extends heartfelt gratitude
on behalf of the citizens of Atlantic Beach.
ADOPTED by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, this 2nd day of November, 1999.
