RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
RECOGNIZING MEMBERS OF THE
FIRST NIGHT STEERING COMMITTEE
AND FIRST NIGHT VOLUNTEERS
WHEREAS, First Night, a community celebration of the arts for all ages, made
its debut in Atlantic Beach this New Year's Eve, 1996.
WHEREAS, First Night offered an evening of music, dance, storytelling, theater,
street artists, and more, including opportunities for audience involvement; and
WHEREAS, the activities offered by First Night represented multi-cultural,
multi-generational themes, thus making it enjoyable for people of all ages and cultures,
and encouraging families to celebrate New Year's Eve together; and
WHEREAS, the First Night volunteers performed an excellent job in planning and
carrying out the event to a successful conclusion. The City Manager and City Staff felt
that the First Night volunteers worked with them in an extremely exemplary manner, thus
making Staff's job much easier than normal in major events such as the First Night event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Atlantic Beach City
Commission expresses deep appreciation to members of the First Night Steering
Committee, and all those who helped to support the First Night event, for their creativity
and hard work which made it possible for residents and visitors alike, of all ages, to enjoy
the New Year celebration.
Adopted by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, this 13th day
of January, 1997.
