Push piers are proposed for installation at the above referenced project. The foundation support system is intended to stabilize and potentially lift the existing foundation structure – reducing pressure on existing soils. Load requirements for the push piers were calculated at areas identified by the contractor. Engineer performed design for this project - see page 2 for engineering notes and results. See page 3 for details of the push pier foundation supports. See page 4 for a layout of the supports proposed by contractor on a footprint of the structure. To the best of my professional knowledge and belief, the design of the push pier support system meets the structural requirements of the 2023 Florida Building Code, Eighth Edition to the extent that it applies to our scope of work. Upon completion of the foundation support system, the contractor shall supply engineer a log of the installed locations, depth, and final drive pressure of the push piers. Engineer will evaluate the log and prepare a letter of completion for closeout, if necessary.Page 1 of 4 Push Pier Project Notes (contractor to inform engine er if assumptions are inaccurate):1.2.3.4.5.6.7.Push Pier Analysis and Results:8.9.10. FDN Engineering, LLC2412 N 179th St.Omaha, NE 68116(402) 739-9642We recommend installing piers with a 2-7/8” dia. shaft (PP21617-34) and a 48" external sleeve.16,200 lbsMaximum, worst-case, total load on a push pier isThe systems should be used on structures that are fixed from translation or braced to prevent translation of the foundation. The surrounding soil must provide continuous lateral support. All design loads are based on guidance from the applicable building code.Push piers are designed to support axial compression load only.Where voids are created below the slab during lifting, it is recommended to fill with PolyRenewal. Use compacted soil around the footing.Only local effects have been checked on existing structural members (e.g., concrete bearing at pier bracket). The integrity of the existing supported structure is outside of our scope of work. The pier was designed as plain steel corroded with capacities assuming a 50-year scheduled sacrificial loss in thickness per ICC-ES AC406. Contractor may fill shaft with cementitious grout for added corrosion protection.Pier shall not be installed in recently backfilled sites or where there is possible sinkhole activity. Notify engineer if foundation is cracked between piers.Structure is two-story, residential with 4 in slab on grade floor & wood-framed walls.Contractor will install push piers, brackets, and all related components per the support manufacturer’s current installation instructions and Evaluation Report ESR-5005.the target pressure w/ depth greater than 5 ft, stop driving - pier is adequate for structure support.Printed copies of this document are not considered signed and sealed and the signature must be verified on any electronic copies.March 28, 2024Add/drive pier sections until a suitable load bearing stratum is encountered. The structure will lift OR target pressure is achieved.Chad A. Keller, P.E. on the date adjacent to the seal.Contractor may use up to 4 ft long spreader beams to improve the footing's spanning capability by carrying load from the footing to the pier (L6x2x 3/8, ASTM A36 Grade 36). Always, use below doors and windows cut to within 2 ft of footing.3,400 psiThis item has been digitally signed and sealed by Push pier spacing along the foundation shall not exceed 6'-0" O.C. and 2-ft from a corner. An install hydraulic drive pressure of using drive cylinder FS35DC (288 - Red) should achieve the desired ultimate load or lift the structure. If the structure begins to lift prior to hitting A factor of safety of 2.0 is conservatively used for push pier systems. The drive and lock-off loads are easily measured indicating the actual supported load.Do not place pier directly under door/window (w/in 24 " from footing). Contact engineer if condition exists.Page 2 of 4 FDN Engineering, LLC2412 N 179th St.Omaha, NE 68116(402) 739-9642Printed copies of this document are not considered signed and sealed and the signature must be verified on any electronic copies.March 28, 2024Chad A.
