As our project continues to progress, we continue to experience a shortage of parking on campus, typically around the late morning and midday hours. This shortage continues to lead to cars being parked on the grass on the west side of Selva Marina Drive immediately adjacent the Club’s parking lot or on the grassy island in Selva Marina Drive immediately across from the Club’s parking lot; based on discussions with ABPD we have directed cars away from parking on the grassy island to the best of our abilities over recent weeks. Due to the nature of Club activities, parking shortages will continue for the coming months leading to recurring parking outside the lot, though specific frequency will vary from time to time. To promote safety in both parking and view corridors, and orderly parking to avoid damage to any utilities or other in the area, we request the ability to park Club related project staff and subcontractor passenger vehicles on the island; this request is not to park any heavy equipment outside our lot. While specific hours of need will vary, generally project- related parking occurs Monday through Saturday from 7am until 4pm and we ask for parking on the island to be allowed through October 31st, 2024. If parking on the grassy island cannot be granted, we would request COAB approve parking on the grass on the west side of Selva Marina Drive immediately adjacent the Club’s parking lot through the same period. Should COAB grant our request to allow parking on the island and/or in the grass adjacent the lot, ABCC staff are prepared to work with appropriate COAB staff to identify and mark where to park and identify and mark any areas to be avoided. Further, ABCC will repair any damage as a result of parking, should such occur. Due to recurring parking challenges, I am hopeful that the additional detail provided here allows the approval of this request as soon as possible so that we may create an orderly solution to address the challenge. Respectfully, Michael A. Chase, Jr. General Manager March 16, 2024 City Manager Bill Killingsworth Sent via Email: billk@coab.us Dear City Manager Killingsworth, Thank you in advance for the City’s consideration of our special request. As you are aware, the Club is currently completing significant renovation and expansion of facilities and amenities on the ABCC campus, all of which are permitted through COAB. As our project has progressed and the number of subcontractors on site daily has increased, we are often experiencing a shortage of parking on campus, typically around the late morning and midday hours. On multiple recent occasions this has led to cars being parked on the grassy island in Selva Marina Drive immediately across from the Club’s parking lot. Due to the nature of Club activities, it is likely that parking shortages will continue for the coming months leading to recurring parking on the grassy island, though specific frequency will vary from time to time. To promote safety in both parking and view corridors, and orderly parking to avoid damage to any utilities or other in the area, we request the ability to park Club related project staff and subcontractors on the island. While specific hours of need will vary, generally project-related parking occurs Monday through Saturday from 7am until 4pm. Should COAB grant our request to allow parking on the island, ABCC staff are prepared to work with COAB Public Works to identify and mark where to park and identify and mark any areas to be avoided. Further, ABCC will repair any damage to the island as a result of parking, should such occur. Attached is an aerial image to depict the area requested for parking. Due to recurring parking challenges, I am hopeful that COAB is able to answer this request as soon as possible so that we may create an orderly solution to address the challenge.
