I apologize, but I have a few more questions that I hope you can assist with. We have decided to do the back patio as a deck instead of pavers to stay below the 400 ft2 threshold. Do I need a new permit application for the drive or can a modification noting this be made to my existing application? Will the deck in the backyard require a permit? What is the formal process for requesting an exception to the right-of-way parking on Sailfish? I obviously want to get that issue cleared-up prior to moving forward with the paver drive to ensure we are able to use it. Please note that we are wanting to do this for safety purposes to greatly reduce the frequency of having to back-out of our existing driveway across the bike path on Plaza. The 400 S/F is the magic number to stay under to make this happen without having to put in water retention. As for the parking North of Plaza on Sailfish Drive:The code says Sailfish, it does not say anything about North or South of Plaza. It simply says Sailfish Drive. I do know that in the past(before my time)there have been exceptions made for the people on Sailfish Drive North of Plaza. With a new Public Works Director,This would be his decision of how he interprets this code. I was planning to use regular impervious pavers. However, I will consider using pervious ones if we decide to move forward with the project and need a retention area. Could you please help answer the questions below to aid in our decisions on the project(s)? - Would eliminating the patio installation(or changing it to a wood/composite deck that would allow the water to drain to the ground as it does today) affect/eliminate the requirements for the topographical information and water retention area by reducing the size below the 400 ft2 threshold? I am attempting to perform the work myself to control costs and feel as though the survey and/or water retention area will increase the costs above what we are willing to spend. 2 • - If I understand correctly, parking in the right-of-way is not allowed on Sailfish between Atlantic and Plaza. Could you please confirm that we would be able to park in the right-of-way on Sailfish because our property is north of Plaza? You have said that pavers will be used, are these regular pavers or are they pervious pavers? If using pervious pavers we will need to have the manufacture cut sheet for the pavers that you are using. If you are using pervious pavers,you can receive a 50%credit on the area that you will be putting them on. If regular pavers are being used this will make your water retention area bigger. In looking at your Property survey you have plenty of room to provide onsite storage.This is a City Code Sec. 24-66. The only way that this can be waived is to have this item put on the agenda for a Commission meeting and let the Commissioners vote on it. (I have never seen this done or approved before).This usually takes a period of two to three months. Your revised plan shows flow arrows on your deck. What we are needing is flow arrows for the entire property so that we will be able to determine the best area for your water retention area. This may Require a pre-construction survey prepared by a Florida Licensed Professional surveyor. As stated on the Public Works Correction items: City of Atlantic Beach Code Ordinance 21-23 does not allow parking in the Right-of-way on Sailfish Drive between Atlantic Blvd and Plaza. I rode the road 3 this morning and there were not any exceptions made. If you would like, I can meet with you and try to figure out a good area of your property to do the water retention. If so, I will plan to install silt fences to prevent erosion during construction. - I will not be able to reasonably provide on-site storage for the run-off. Is it possible to waive this requirement as mentioned in the code? - Pavers will be installed on top of paver base and sand. -Based on the last bullet point, can the driveway not be installed on Sailfish? There are other parking areas on the street that seem to be in the right-of-way.
