RESOLUTION NO. 87-12
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION, CITY OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE SUBMITTAL
OF APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES, DIVISION OF BEACHES AND SHORES, FOR AN
EROSION CONTROL PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 1988-89
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Natural Resources Division of
Beaches and Shores, makes available funds for beach erosion control, and
WHEREAS, previously the City of Atlantic Beach has received funds
for beach dune crossovers to protect the dune access, and
WHEREAS, the federal government and the State of Florida have
previously renourished the north Atlantic beaches and installed sand
fencings and sea oats, and
WHEREAS, the sand fencings, due to wind and weather, are beginning
to suffer deterioration, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Atlantic Beach to provide
repair and replacement of the fencing where needed, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to furnish educational
signing at each beach access relative to the need for protecting the
dunes,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. That the City Manager be hereby authorized to execute and
file an application on behalf of the City of Atlantic Beach with
the Florida Department of Natural Resources for grant assistance
for the City's proposed repair and replacement of sand fences and
installation of educational signage.
Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to
furnish such information as the Department of Natural Resources may
request in connection with the application, which herein is au-
thorized to be filed.
Section 3. That the City Manager be authorized and hereby directed
to execute for the City any and all amendments and supplements as
may be required by the Department of Natural Resources in con-
nection with the application which herein is authorized to be
filed.
