87-39 v - CITY OF rf' u#ctcc &cac! - 96yterta -- -- 400,4k Ai tka ntutitni No. 87-39 WHEREAS, on October 4, 1987, a motorcycle and pick-up truck were involved in a collision on Mayport Road, and WHEREAS, the motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle into a pool of flaming gasoline which had come from the ruptured gas tank of the motorcycle, and WHEREAS, Edward Howard Habicht of Jacksonville Beach, in concert with Lieutenant Nicholas Vander Wal of the Atlantic Beach Police Depart- ment, in utter disregard for their own safety, pulled the man from the flames, and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach wish to recognize this action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA Section 1. Edward Howard Habicht of Jacksonville Beach is hereby commended for his efforts in the life-saving attempt during a traffic accident on Mayport Road on October 4, 1987. Section 2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official minutes of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and a copy of said Resolution be furnished to the said Edward Howard Habicht with the grateful thanks of the community.
