RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION
IN FEDERAL FL40I7 INSURANCE PRRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach recognizes the
immediate need for Flood Insurance for the protection of the
public, and hereby desires participation in the Federal Insurance
Program, and
WHEREAS, The City of Atlantic Beach agrees to take such
official action as may be necessary to comply-with the require-
meats of the Flood Insurance, Program, and
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach recognizes that muc13
of the property within its boundaries are subject to coastal
flooding and flood damage,. and
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach.. will implement
measures determined as necessary ~co recognize and evaluate flood
hazards and measures relating to land use in flood plain areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Commission of
the City of Atlantic Beach, Floridan
SECTION 1 o That it will recognize ahd evaluate flood
hazards in all actions relating to land use in the flood areas
within the City limits.
SECT ION: 20 .That it will enact by December 31 , 1972, and
maintain in force adequate land use and control pleasures with
effective enforcement provisions consistent with the National
Flood. Insurance Program criteriao
SECTION 3. That it will cooperate with neighboring
jurisdictions with respect to adjoining drainage areas and flood
plains in order to prevent the aggravation of the flooding problem,
and will work with appropriate state and federal agencies and
bodies in every way possible in complying with the Flood Insurance
Program.

SECTION 4. That the City Commission hereby appoints the
City ..Manager as the official with the responsibilityo authority
and means to implement the commitments made hereino
SECTION 5. That this resolution .shall take effect
immediately upon its passages
