RESOLUTION #68-3
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA, MEMORIALIZING TF~E VALOR OF STAFF
SERGEANT LEROY EVERETT IN THE DEFENSE OF THE
IDEALS OF HIS NATION.
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Leroy Everett, a native of Atlantic
Beach, Florida, and the only son of the Late Mr. Noah Everett
and Mrs. Viola Everett of Atlantic Beach, Florida, has given
the last full measure of devotion to the ideals of the United
States of America, and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Leroy Everett did so ~-s a volunteer
in the United States Army, and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Leroy Everett did so while engaged in
battles thousands of miles from his home, family and friends
in efforts to secure liberty and freedom for the peoples of t,Yse
Republic of Viet Nam, and
WHEREAS, the liberty and freedom of these peoples who were
strangers to Staff Sergeant Leroy Everett have a vital, direct
,,~ and indispensible link to the liberty and freedom of the
peoples of his native country;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the
City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, as follows;
1. That the City Commission of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, for itself and for all of the citizens
of Atlantic Beach, does hereby express its
condolences to the family of Staff Sergeant
Leroy Everett in its great loss,
2. That this body and the citizens it represents
make official its deepest regard for the
sacrifice that Staff Sergeant Leroy Everett
has made in the defense of liberty and freedom.
3. That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon
the Minutes of this meeting and that a true
copy be sent to Mrs. Viola Everett, and that
a copy of this Resolution be given to the news
media.
