68-29RESOLUTION NO. 68-29 WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, is without any library facilities wherein its citizens can enjoy the use of books of an educational, technical, reference, artistic and fictional nature, and WHEREAS, the citi2ens of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, have expressed the desire to their City Commission that such a facility be provided, and WHEREAS, it has come to the knowledge of the City Commissions of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, that the Consolidated City of Jacksonville has allocated certain monies in the consoli- dated budget to the Board of Library Trustees for the planning of the expansion of the library system of the Consolidated City of Jacksonville, and that such expansion will include the opening of new branch libraries within the territorial limits of the Consoli- dated City of Jacksonville, and WHEREAS, under Article 12, Chapter 3, Section 12.301 of the Charter of the Consolidated Government of the City of Jacksonville, Florida, provision is made for the furnishing of free library service for the use and enjoyment of the citizens of the consoli- dated government; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY `THE CITY C01MNiZSBION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLC}RIDA, AS FOLLOWS; 1. That the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, make applica- tion to the Board of Library Trustees for the construction of a branch library on Atlantic Boulevard, within the city limits of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida. 2. That the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, request the Consolidated City of Jacksonville to send the members of the Planning Board to inspect various lacations on Atlantic Boulevard, within the .limits of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, on which such a branch library can be constructed. 3. That a copy of this Resolution be respectfully sub- mitted to the Honorable Hans Tanzler, Jr. Mayor of the City of Jacksonville, to the Honorable Cecil C. Bailey, President of the Board of Library Trustees,, to the Honorable Harry Brinton, Director of Libraries, to the Honorable Walter Dickinson., Councilman, and to the Honorable Marvin C.
