BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA: That
WHEREAS, the traffic load on State Road No. 10 between the express-
way and State Road No. AlA (Mayport Road) and on State Road No.
A7.A (Atlantic Blvd.) between the Mayport Road and 3rd Street in
Neptune Beach has increased greatly since the construction of the
Matthews Bridge and the expressway, and
WHEREAS, the grt~'wth of the Beach communities, the development of
the lands adjacent to State Road No. 10,~and the expansion of the
Mayport Naval Air Station have greatly increased the traffic load
on this highway, and
WHEREAS,•it is reasonable to assume that this growth will continue
and in all probability double and triple within the next few years,
thereby c=eating an impossible traffic load''on the above mentioned
highway '
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that, the Commission of the City of
Atlantic Beach, Florida do,all`things,within its power to promote
the immediate construction of a'branch of expressway system of
Duval County to serve the Beach~Communities in the years to come,
and
BE IT FURTHER,-RESOLVED That a copy of this Resolution be presented
to the Jacksonville;,Expressway Athority, the Florida State
Road Board, the County Commission of Duval County; the Mayor s
of our neighboring cities and the Commanding Officer of the Mayport
Air Station requesting their support and ,help in obtaining this
much needed improvement.
