Request for Variance of Side Setbacks - Frances Asquith
Lot 84, Saltair Section 3
Mrs . Asquith' s builder, Richard Lambert , stated that the
property is considered to be a corner lot because it is
adjacent to a part of Howell Park that is still a right-of-way.
He felt that the right-of-way would never become a street .
He stated that , due to the irregular shape of the lot , only a
two-story house would meet the setback requirements . He
explained that this would be Mrs . Asquith' s retirement home
and that she did not want a two-story home because of her age .
He stated that it would be a patio-style home, designed for
a zero-lot line . There would be no exits on either side and
no windows on the north side .
Chairman MacDonell felt that some relief could be granted

that was requested. He felt that it was not a hardship case
because the zoning regulations were in effect when the lot was

purchased. He brought up the point that , in addition to
not meeting the setback requirements , the plan has
approximately 53% lot coverage , as opposed to the maximum
35% allowed.
After a brief discussion on lot coverage , Mr . Howie motioned
that the request be denied. Mrs Blanchard seconded the
motion which carried unanimously.
There being no further business before the Board, Chairman
MacDonell adjourned the meeting at 7 : 27 p .m.
