Tassone John Bass Dorothy Kerber (arrived 7:02) AND: Rene' Angers, Secretary AND: George Bull, Jr. ABSENT: Samuel T. Howie Richard C. Fellows, City Manager Chairman MacDonell called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. He stated that approval of the minutes of the meeting of August 15, 1985 would be deferred until Mrs. Kerber arrived. He called the Board's attention to the new business before the Board. NEW BUSINESS Item #1 - Request for Side Setback Variance - Dr. Charles Weaver Lot 10, Block 40, Atlantic Beach; 1058 Beach Avenue The Chair recognized Mr. George Bull, Jr. Mr. Bull stated that he represented Dr. Weaver in the request for variance. He stated that they were requesting a variance of approximately 3.5' to construct an addition to an existing storage room on the south side of the building. He stated that the present storage roam is very small and houses part of an air conditioning unit. The addition would be used to store bicycles and lawn equipment. He added that the Weavers would rather make the addition than to construct a storage shed in the back yard. He felt that it could become an eyesore. Mr. Bull stated that he had submitted petitions from the adjacent property owners to the effect that they have no objection to the variance. Chairman MacDonell opened the floor for discussion. Mr. Tassone asked if the gas tank on the south side would be removed. Mr. Bull replied that it would not be removed but may be slightly relocated. Mrs. Kerber asked if they would have to remove plants in order to build the structure. Mr. Bull stated that they may have to remove a few plants. Mrs. Kerber added that she had no objection to the request if the addition would help keep the neighborhood neat and help the Weavers to utilize their property more effectively. Mr. Tassone asked how much setback would be left on each side. Mr. Bull replied that there would be more than five feet on each side. Board of Adjustment September 19, 1985 Page 2 Chairman MacDonell felt it would be somewhat of a hardship not to grant the variance. He added that the new structure would hide the gas tank from the street which would be an improvement. He asked if there was anyone present to speak in opposition of the request. There being no one to speak in opposition of the request the Chair asked for a notion. Mr. Tassone motioned to approve the request for variance. Mrs. Kerber seconded the motion which carried unanimously. * * * J_. J_. J_ J. .I. .1. J J. J_ * J_ J.
