1, GENERAL CUNDITIONSt
The "General Conditions of the Contract for Construction". AIA Document No. A-201,
1967 Edition* Is by reference made a part of this Contract between the Owner and
Contractor. Copies are on file and may be referred to at the office of the Owner,
or may be purchased at a nominal charge from any dealer In Architects' supplies.
2, SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
(A) The Contractor shall provide a t

3. SITE PREPARATION EXCAVATION ANU GRADING:
(A) The Contractor shall visit the site of the work prior to submitting his bid
and thereby Inform himself fully as to the conditions at and surrounding the site,
and under which he must carry out the work,
(8) in general the Contractor shall clear and excavate for the building area,
trenches under the building 'and all other parts shown to be below the present grade.,
(CYThe elevation of the finish floor shall be a minimum of 511 above the
surrounding existing grade. All finish grades shall slope away from the building
and drain to the street at 4 slope not less than I" In 10 feet. The entire site
shall be finish graded.
(0) Existing soll shall be compactaii prior to the application of any required
fill, dirt. Fill dirt shall be compacted In layers of 611* All fill dirt shall be
q,;aqn sand free of debris or other organic matter. Earth excavated from footing
trenches may be used as fill wndar slabs If free of organic matter.

occurring within the area of the site designated to receive paving, shall,be removed.

(H) The entire site shall'be cleared of woods and underbrush.

UIvIslon of the St. Regis Paper Co. or approved equal. Lap;all joints minimum of 6".
5. MASONRY:

I (U) Uricks shall be clay face brick, sizat- 3- 3/411 x 2- 1/411 x 811,, as selected by
the Owner. All exposed ~11col and horizontal joints snail ue raked. Provide
crimped galvanized metal wall ties as Indicated by the drawings. No acid shall be
used to clean brick.
(C) Concrete masonry units shall be of the type and sizes Indicated by the drawings.
Vertical joints shall be flush and horizontal joints tooled where exposed, Interior
and exterior of building, Provide ladder-type galvanized metal horizontal joint
reinforcement as Indicated by the drawings, equal to �'DurlA&Wall%
(D) Joints shall uniform and approximately 3/811 'wide,
(E) Mortar shall be a waterproofed mix complying with the Southern Standard
Building Code, 1965 edition* Mortar Type M or S.
(F) Sand shall be clean, washed sand complying with AST14 standards C33, current
revision.
(0) All work shall be plumb and true and built accurately to accomplish the results
Intended or reasonably Implied by the drawings. Where necessary all measurements shall
be verified at the site.
(H) All filled coils "0�dqjlasters Indicated on the drawings shall be filled wltb.,"�
concrete from footing to' tie beam, Dowels shall be extended 16" above top of footing
and wall reinforcing bars shall exton&, to within 4" of the top of the tie beam.

6o STRUCTURAL STEEL:
(A) This Contractor shall furnish all steel bar joists and beam,. C�lumn, anchors,
plateso miscellaneous angles and clips shown on the drawing,
(B) Structural steel beam and column shall have one brushed coat of zinc chromate
paint or two coats if sprayed.
(C) Open web steel joists shall be constructed In accordance with SJI Specifications
and shop coated with asphalt base metal protective paint. Bridging shall be
provided as shown on the drawings. All joists shall be straight and plumb. Welds
shall be a minimum of' 2" of 1/4" fillet weld.
(D) All steel shall be designed, fabricated,, and erected In accordance with the
specifications for the "Design,, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for
Buildings" and with the Code of Standard PractIce of the American Institute of Steal
Construction.
7. ROOF DECK:
(A) .ThIs Contractor shall furnish and Install all materials to provide the
complete Insfallation of a poured gypsum roof dock.
1. Sub-purllns:, Size and weight as Indicated by the drawings.
Spaced at 32 5/8" o.c.
Welded to top of bar joists.
One shop coat of lead base paint.
2. Permanent -Formboard: 1/2" Gypsum Formboard natural surface.
3. Reinforcing Mesh: All reinforcing mesh shall be galvanized.
All poured dock shall be reinforced with "Kaydeck"
or equal .
4. Gypsum Concrete: Gold Bond Metro-Mix or equal .
Thickness varies as Indicated by -tho drawings.
8, ROOFING AND SHEET METAL:
