Resolution No. 03-16RESOLUTION NO. 03-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH ENDORSING THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE MAYPORT ROAD CORRIDOR AND THE CONCEPTUAL RECOMMENDATIONS AS CONTAINED WITHIN THE MAYPORT ROAD ACCESS MANAGEMENT STUDY PREPARED FOR THE FIRST COAST METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission have identified as a priority, though the annual Strategic Planning Process, the redevelopment of the Mayport Road corridor within the City of Atlantic Beach and the City of Jacksonville; and WHEREAS, the improvements to the safety and the aesthetics of the roadway and the surrounding built environment are important to the residents and businesses within the community and also to the economic future and welfare of all of Duval County; and WHEREAS, the Mayport Road Corridor represents a major entrance and gateway to the City of Atlantic Beach and the City of Jacksonville; and WHEREAS, the redevelopment of the Mayport Road Corridor supports the Goals and Objectives of the Future Land Use and the Traffic Circulation Elements of the adopted Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, the First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization has contracted with the firm -' of Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc. to prepare a study (attached hereto) containing preliminary design recommendations and concepts for the redevelopment of the Mayport Road corridor, which is State Highway AIA, within the City of Atlantic Beach and the City of Jacksonville. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach hereby supports and endorses the Mayport Road Access Management Study, as prepared for the First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization.
