Resolution No. 04-08unsignedRESOLUTION NO. 04-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA HONORING MAUREEN KING FOR HER YEARS OF SERVICE AS THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER AND AS THE CITY CLERK FOR THE CITY AND CITIZENS OF ATLANTIC BEACH WHEREAS, Maureen King, on October 21, 1985, began her employment with the City of Atlantic Beach as the Executive Secretary to the City Manager, and on Apri127, 1988, was promoted to Administrative Assistant to the City Manager to reflect her added responsibilities and duties, and by action of the City Commission was appointed City Clerk on December 5, 1988, and WHEREAS, Maureen King, a proponent of professionalism, attained the prestigious designation of Certified City Clerk (CMC) in August of 1994, which is granted only after a clerk has met a combination of high standazds regazding education, experience and service; and maintained memberships in the Florida Association of City Clerks (FACC) and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), and WHEREAS, Maureen King, while providing for the administrative functions of the Commission has attended more than six hundred Regular, Special Called and Workshop Meetings, and has worked for four different Mayors and with four City Managers, and WHEREAS, as the custodian of the official city records, and to improve customer service, promote efficiency, save time and eliminate lost files, Maureen King began a document imaging program in 2001, which has placed more than 100,000 pages of documents on the city's network, resulting in improved records research and retrieval capabilities for the office through the use of document management software, and WHEREAS, the City Clerk is the person to whom citizens come to obtain information and an understanding of how municipal government works; and to keep the citizens better informed, Maureen King began posting the Commission Meeting Agenda Packets on the city's website in 2003, and WHEREAS, Maureen King, as City Clerk, managed her office with a commitment to excellence, which requires that things aze done well, correctly and performed with honesty, integrity and forthrightness, and WHEREAS, Maureen King has decided to retire on September 1, 2004 to travel and have time to enjoy her twin grandchildren, Madeline and Owen. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH: SECTION 1. That the City Commission and citizens hereby recognize with deep appreciation and gratitude the loyal and dedicated service of Maureen King in administering the duties of the Office of City Clerk. SECTION 2. That the City Commission does hereby extend best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement to Maureen.
