IIIIIIIIIIIlilIls IhIU1ItI1flI1I 20005 202 462-8482 January 29, 1966 The Honorable William Howell City Hall Atlantic Beach, Florida Dear Mayor Howell: The Judges of the 1965 National Cleanest Town Achievement Award Contest have just informed me that your city has earned a "Certificate of Honorable Mention" in recognition for you- outstanding clean up and civic improvement program. The Judges were most impressed with your entry, depicting the many achievements attained by the dedicated citizens of your community. The highlight of our National Cleanest Town Conference, held in Washington, at the Statler Hilton Hotel, February 14 and 15, will be the "Awards Presentation Ceremonies" that will begin at 9:30 a .m. in the Presidential Ballroom, Tuesday, February 15. Cities earning Distinguished Achievement Awards and Certificates of Honorable Mention will be recognized first and their delegations called to the stage to receive their awards. In this regard, we have also written the Chairman of your Clean Up Program and hope that you will head a large delegation to be with us in February, to participate in this Confer- ence, and personally receive this high honor. During the Presentation Ceremonies, Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson will address the delegates and then, the concluding event of this important two-day meeting, will be the Awards Luncheon honoring the winning cities. The guest speaker will be The Honorable Stewart Udall, Secretary of the Interior. Because your entry was so well done, it will be displayed during the entire two-day Con- ference so others can see, first-hand, the many achievements you have attained. Press releases announcing your Award have been sent to all news media and we urge you to contact the Editors of your newspapers and have them request from the wire service to which they belong - AP, or UPI - to be at the Presentation Ceremonies to take pictures of the actual presentation so that they can be on the front pages of your newspapers within 24 hours. Again, congratulations and I will be looking forward to seeing you and others from your city at the two-day Conference. Cordially ours, R. . Hackendahl, RHH:sva Director
