CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MINUTES
January 9, 2007

Chairman Russell called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance
to the Flag by all present.
Chairman Russell requested that the roll be read. Secretary Gorman read the roll and determined
that there was a quorum.
Chairman Russell motioned to approve the minutes from September 12, 2006. Motion carried
unanimously.

2. HEARING
Appeal of Case # 165-05, Mr. Benjamin Brown went before the Board to demonstrate
compliance and request a reduction in fines. Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer distributed

Documentation of Case #165-OS and advised the Board of Mr. Brown's current compliance.
Board Members directed questions to Mr. Brown and Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer.
The Board discussed the amount of time devoted to Case #165-OS and agreed to the need for
resolution. Board Members agreed to consider a reduction in the fines that had amassed under
Case # 165-05, and that all other existing fines and accruements from previous cases would
remain in effect. The reduction would be contingent upon the absence of violations or warnings
for an extended period of time, and as the violations under Case #165-OS were corrected, only
the interest would continue to accrue. Chairman Russell asked for a motion. Board Member
Ron Pendleton motioned to forgive or reduce the current fine associated with Case #165-OS by
seventy percent, if the respondent remains free of violations of any kind through December 31,
2007. Board Member Mamie Hurd seconded, the motion passed unanimously. The Code
Enforcement Board agreed not to hear another appeal related to Case #165-05.
3. ELECTION OF CHAIR
Board Member Ron Pendleton nominated Carl Russell to continue as Chair of the Code
Enforcement Board. Barbara Weis seconded, motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Russell called for a motion to adjourn; a motion was made and carried. The Code
Enforcement meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
