CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MINUTES
WORKSHOP MEETING
JANUARY 11, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Curtis Sanders, followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
./'s• The Secretary read the roll, finding that Board Member Carl Russell was absent.

1. Approval of the Minutes of the Meeting held on November 9, 2004
City Attorney Alan Jensen explained that, due to the nature of the Workshop Meeting, no
official action could be taken. Therefore, approval of the minutes of the meeting held on
November 9, 2004 was postponed until the next regular Board meeting in March 2005.
2. Recognition of Visitors and Guests regarding any matters that are not listed
on the agenda
There were no visitors or guests present at the meeting.
3. Introduction of new board member Suzanne Noel
New board member, Suzanne Noel was welcomed by the Board and introduced herself as
being a resident of Aquatic Gardens for 10 years.
4. Elect a new Vice-Chairman for the Board
Due to the fact that this was a Workshop meeting, no official action could be taken at this
time. This item was postponed until the next regular meeting.
5. Discuss the administration of Animal Control Cases
Alex Sherrer provided each member with a copy of a letter from the City Manager, Jim
Hanson, which addressed the issue of two code enforcement cases that were brought to

his attention due to the fact that liens had been placed on the owners' properties. The
City Manager's letter expressed concern that the fines appeared to be excessive in regards
to the nature of the violations. The Board discussed the two cases in detail and examined
many issues regarding the system. Following discussion, the members of the Board
agreed to report to the City Manager that they determined the fines imposed were
reasonable and that the current procedures for the Animal Control cases should continue
to be upheld and followed.
6. Receive a brief from the City Attorney on the Sunshine Law
Alan Jensen, City Attorney, gave a review of Florida's Sunshine Law. He discussed the
following 3 requisites which have to be met whenever business is discussed by the board:
1) there must be Public Notice issued, 2) the meeting must be open to the public, and 3)
minutes must be recorded.
5. Adjournment
Chairman Sanders declared the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
