"" MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF TREE CONSERVATION BOARD May 26, 2004 A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held on May 26, 2004, in the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Present were Chair Maureen Shaughnessy, Jim McCue, Permenter, Building Official Don Ford and Recording Secretary Susan Dunham. Absent were Charles Carroll and Susan Grube. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. Building Official Ford advised that Susan Grube had resigned from the board. Board Member Permenter advised that he would be out of town for the meeting of June 23. 2. Recognition of Visitors None. 3. Aaaroval of Minutes of the Meeting of Mav 12, 2004 A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member McCue, and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of May 12, 2004, as written. 4. New Business A. Tree Removal Applications: 1. 1750 Beach Avenue: Building Official Ford advised that the only trees being removed that required mitigation were two palm trees in the exterior zone. He further advised that the applicant would be planting three 6" oaks along the front and two 6" magnolias near the west property line for mitigation. A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member McCue, and unanimously carried to instruct the Building Official to issue a permit for the removal of a 13" palm and a 14" palm to be mitigated on site with three 6" oaks and two 6" magnolias. 5. Old Business A. Protected Tree Corridor: The board approved the memo to the city commissioners as draft by Building Official Ford with suggested changes. Discussion was held with regard to implementing a native species program to encourage planting of native species and discourage planting of invasive species. It was determined that the board would write a letter to the City Commission to request input on the possibility of modifying the ordinance to protect all indigenous trees in the City of Atlantic Beach. Another suggestion was made that the survey be reduced and sent to the newspapers for distribution to the public. 6. Reports and Announcements A. Update on Issued Tree Removal Permits: Building Official Ford distributed copies of permits that he issued due to the fact that the April 14 and Apri128 meetings were not held due to a lack of a quorum. 7.
