REGULAR MEETING OF
TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
June 9, 2004
A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held on June 9, 2004, in the Adele Grage
Cultural Center. Present were Chair Maureen Shaughnessy, Charles Carroll, Bill Permenter and
Building Official Don Ford. Absent was Jim McCue.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
2. Recognition of Visitors
None.
3. Approval of Minutes of the Meeting of May 26, 2004
A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member Carroll,
and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of May 26, 2004, as written.
4. New Business
A. 388 Seminole Road: Tree removal without a permit on city right-of--way: The owners,
Mr. and Mrs. Bell, explained that they did not know that the trees they removed were located on
the city right-of--way. They advised that they needed to remove the trees to protect the house
from damage in case of hurricanes. After a discussion of the location of the trees, Building
Official Ford presented pictures and a survey of the sidewalk/approximate location of the trees.
A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member Carroll,
and unanimously carried to propose that Public Works assess mitigation at $117.00 per
inch removed for 29.5 inches to total $3,451.00.
5. Old Business
None.
6. Reports and Announcements
The board discussed the following:
a. Trees removed at Dale Lane and Hickory Lane. Building Official Ford will follow up on this
issue.
b. Holding meetings only once a month when there was little permitting activity.
c. The memorandum to the City Commission pertaining to the Tree Canopy Ordinance.
Building Official Ford will follow up on this matter.
d. Trees were removed without a permit by Mr. Phillips on Edgar Street. Building Official Ford
will follow up on this matter.
