SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF
TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
July 10, 2004
A special called meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held on July 10, 2004, at the
Paradise Preserve subdivision on Dutton Island Road West. Present were Chair Maureen
Shaughnessy, Elizabeth Green, Jim McCue, Bill Permenter, Building Official Don Ford and
Recording Secretary Susan Dunham. Absent was Charles Carroll.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 8:10 a.m.
2. New Business
A. Tree Removal Applications:
1. Paradise Preserve: Mr. Paul Nichols, Mrs. Karen Beck, Mr. Tim Cassidy, Mr. Dale
Henderson, Mr. Kenny Kettrey and Mr. David Hendrix of Bestcon, Inc., introduced themselves.
Mr. Nichols distributed packets to the board members. He reminded the board that each lot
would be considered individually with respect to interior and exterior zones but the subdivision
was to be considered as one with respect to mitigation. The board members and Bestcon
employees left to randomly measure trees to verify the surveys.
Board members and Bestcon employees returned. Each board member discussed changes to be
made to the surveys.
A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member McCue,
and unanimously carried to direct the Building Official to issue a permit for Lots 1-47,
Paradise Preserve off Dutton Island Road West. to remove 766" of oak and 847" of non-
oak to be mitigated on site with 383" of oak and 423" of non-oak.
A motion was made by Board Member McCue, seconded by Board Member Permenter,
and unanimously carried that the Building Official allow the ezcess of 205" of oak to be
used for mitigation for trees that have to be removed during construction which would be
mitigated at 100 percent. Bill seconds.
A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member McCue,
and unanimously carried to direct the Building Official issue a permit for the removal of a
44" oak located in front of Lot 23 to be mitigated at 100 percent on site.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:41 a.m.
