REGULAR MEETING OF
TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
December 1, 2004
A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held on December 1, 2004, in the City
Commission Chambers. Present were Chair Maureen Shaughnessy, Jim McCue, Bill Permenter
Charles Carroll, Building Official Don Ford and Recording Secretary Amber Lehman.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.
2. Recognition of Visitors
Paul Finley with Habitat for Humanity was in attendance.
3. Approval of Minutes of the Meeting of November 10, 2004
A motion was made by Board Member Permenter, seconded by Board Member McCue,
and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of November 10, 2004.
4. New Business
A. Tree Removal Applications:
1. 1113/1115 Schiedel Lane: Board Member Permenter made a motion to instruct
the building official to approve one of the nine lots for tree removal and instruct
applicant to resubmit project with individual tree surveys, Seconded by Board
Member McCue; and unanimously carried.
2. 1515 Beach Ave: Board Member McCue made a motion to instruct applicant to
resubmit application and have tree removal plans redrawn showing interior and
exterior zones and have applicant touch base with the utility department about
the six trees that are in the public right of way, and explain why they should be
taken out, seconded by Board Member Carroll, unanimously carried.
5. Old Business
A. Tree Removal Application
Don Ford presented the new tree removal application.
6. Reports and Announcements
Don Ford advised the board that he would like to take off the trees that are not indigenous to the
northeast Florida off of the recommended list on the tree removal application.
Don Ford also advised the board that City of Atlantic Beach will now require the general
contractors for JEA to get tree removal applications before cutting down trees.
7. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
