REGULAR MEETING OF
TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
June 22, 2005
A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held on June 22, 2005 in the Adele
Grape Cultural Center. Present were Chairman Shaughnessy, Jamie Fletcher, Stephanie Catania,
Building Official Don Ford, and Recording Secretary Amber Lehman.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.
2. Recognition of Visitors
Chairman Shaughnessy welcomed Dorothy Kerber, Sally Clemmons, and Nole
Timmerman.
3 Approval of Minutes of the Meeting of June 8, 2005
A motion was made by Board Member Catania to approve minutes from the June 8, 2005
meeting, seconded by Board Member Fletcher, unanimously carved.
4. New Business
~""'' A. Tree Removal Application
1. Lot 21, Block
Mr. Robert Gray submitted an application to the Tree Board to remove one 36 inch live
oak, 2 ten inch palms, one 11 inch palm, one 12 inch palm, two thirteen inch palms, and
two 14 inch palms, all in the interior zone, and one 13 inch palm, two 14 inch palms, and
one 6 inch holly from the exterior zone. He requested that the trees be taken down due
the trees being too close to the foundation of~the proposed house.
A motion was made by Board Member Fletcher, seconded by Board Member
Catania, and unanimously carried to instruct the building official to issue a tree
removal permit for one 13 inch palm, one 11 inch palm, one 12 inch palm, one 13
inch palm, one 10 inch palm,two 14 inch palms, one 10 inch palm, one 13 inch palm,
and one 36 inch of live oak, in the interior zone and three 14 inch palms, one 13 inch
palm, and one 6 inch holly in the exterior zone to be mitigated with 18 inches of
oak, and 27 inches of palm.
2. Lot 689 In Section No. 3
A motion was made by Board Member Fletcher, seconded by Board Member
Catania, and unanimously approved to instruct the building official to instruct the
property owners to resubmit tree removal applications due to the application not
being correctly completed.

3. Lots 5, 6, & 7 West 13`h Street
Bob Phillips, 1550 Sevla Marina stated that he would like to have a tree removal permit
to cut down fourteen inches of pine, and six inches of maple in the exterior zone due to
the construction of two new commercial buildings.
A motion was made by Board Member Catania, seconded by Board Member
Fletcher to instruct the building official to issue a tree removal permit for the
removal of 14 inches of pine, and six inches of maple to be mitigated with 10
inches of hardwood. Make a motion to instruct the building official to issue a tree
removal permit for removal of
4. Lots 5 & 6, Block 148 Section H
A motion was made by Board Member Fletcher, seconded by Board Member
Catania, and unanimously carried to instruct the building official to instruct the
property owners to resubmit their tree removal applications due to the applications
not being completed.
B. Proposed Tree Ordinance
Recording Secretary Amber Lehman stated that she had emailed a copy of the proposed
tree ordinance to the city clerk, and requested that it be placed on the next City
Commission Agenda for discussion. She was told by the city clerk that it would not be
on the next agenda. She advised the members that if they wanted the proposed tree
ordinance to be put on the agenda, then they would need to email their Commissioners.

6. Reports and Announcements
Building Official Don Ford, stated that there is about $29,000 left in the tree budget. He
asked the board members to look for where they thought tree should be planted
throughout the city of Atlantic Beach.
Mr. Ford also reported that 1800 Selva Marina will be on the agenda for the next
meeting. Two trees were taken down without a tree removal permit, one tree is 16 inches
and the other is 25 inches.
