7-10-07 WorkshopPage 2. July 10, 2007 2. New Business Case # 39-07: Mr. Walter Barnes- Illegal Storage Alex Sherrer provided recent photographs of Mr. Barnes's property for the Board to review. Mr. Barnes was not available to take questions from the Board. Board Members addressed concerns and questions to Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer. Discussion ensued and Co- chairman Ron Pendleton asked for a motion. Board Member Barbara Weiss motioned to instruct the Code Enforcement Officer to serve the Respondent with the Finding of Fact and to give the Respondent until July 16, 2007 to come into compliance and failture to comply will result in fines of $100.00 per day for every day until compliance is met. Failure to pay fines will result in a lien being placed against the property at 421 Sargo Road. Miscellaneous Business Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer provided Board Members with an update regarding the health of Board Member Velda Wells. The Board was advised that Ms. Wells is expected to resign from the Code Enforcement Board in order to continue her recovery from a recent injury. 9. Co-Chairman Pendleton requested that the roll be read. Secretary Susan Gorman read the roll and determined that there was a quorum. Following a brief review, the Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the Code Enforcement Board meeting of January 9, 2007. 1. Old Business: a. Case #165-05: Mr. Benjamin Brown, 457 Sailfish Dr. Co-Chairman Pendleton asked Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer for an update on Case #165-05. Mr. Brown is now in compliance and there are no violations reported Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer. The Board was advised that fines are only negotiable before Liens are filed. Once a Lien is filed, the Commission should review a request for reduction in fines. Discussion ensued and the Board agreed to request City staff to review policy and procedure. Page 2.
