CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
APRIL 25, 2006
A regular meeting of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee was held Tuesday, April 25,
2006, in the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Present were Chair Rusty Pritchett, Linda Ginsberg, Laurie
Melancon, Darrell Prather, Ingrid McCawley, Alicia Paley and Timmy Johnson. Ray Coleman and Julie
Dias were absent.
1. Call to Order
Chair Rusty Pritchett called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

A motion was made by Committee Member Laurie Melancon, seconded by Committee
Member Alicia Paley to approve the minutes of minutes of March 28, 2006. The motion
carried unanimously.
3. Old B,gsiness
a) Events/Programs
i) Songwriter's Concert
The next event will be held May 7. Darrell reported that a Songwriter's event
was held early in the month. There were approximately thirty participants and
the event turned out well.
ii) Acoustic Night
It was reported that the event was very well attended. The 6 to 8 PM. will work
better because of the heat.
iii) Art Festival
We currently have eleven artist registered for the event. Kyds has agreed to set
up a kid's activity table. Laurie mentioned that Jeff and Carolyn Woods is
having a art show in their yard May 6 as well, therefore; Laurie recommends
teaming up with other groups in the community that are setting up the same or
similar event.
Alicia recommends setting up a volunteer pool.
iv) Shakespeare in the Park
Linda reported that there is a conflict between ABET and the Director. The
Director would like to have student actors and ABET is against that ideal. Linda
spoke to the Director and he is willing to put the play on, but the event would
need to be rescheduled.
v) Tour de Parks
Alicia reported that the event went very well. There were approximately 50
participants and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the event. For next year,
Alicia would like to get flyers out to the schools. Alicia thanked the Committee
for all the help and especially Timmy Johnson and Margie Reeves for holding
her hand along the way.
b) Teen Council Update
No Teen Council member was present to give a report.

a) Budget
Rusty informed the Committee that City Stafi's role is to support the committee not to
put on the events. 'The Committee held an eactensive discuss concerning the budget.

New Business
A motion was made by Committee Member Linda Ginsberg, seconded by
Committee Member Darreli Prather to approve and submit the folMwing budget to
the City Commission for fiscal year 2006-2007. The motion carried unanimousty.
Other
Rusty mentioned selecting another Chairperson at one of the react two meetings.
