SUBJECT: City M is Report
Purchase of Reaacement Tiles for Dryina Beds at Wastewater Plant #1; The city's present
budget includes $15,000 for replacement tiles for the drying beds at the Atlantic Beach
Wastewater Treatment Plant. These tiles are proprietary items available only from a sole source
vendor. A purchase requisition in the amount of $14,976 has been issued to MTS Environmental
for the filter media tiles. No commission action is needed as this purchase falls under the sole
source exclusion from the purchasing regulations. 'This report is made for the commission's
information only. Section 2-336 "Exemptions" reads as follows; "the formal bid procedure is
defined in this division is not required in the following cases... (2) when the goods or services to
be procured are procurable from only one source, such as contracts for telephone service,
electrical energy or other public utility services; books, pamphlets, periodicals, specifically
designed business and research equipment and related supplies."
