Minutes 10-11-07 vMINUTES Board Member Review Committee Meeting October 11, 2007 5:00 pm 1. Call to order The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. Those in attendance were City Manager Jim Hanson, Member Glen Fisher, Member Casey Quinif, Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer and Code Enforcement Board Chair Carl Russell. Mayor Pro-Tem Dezmond Waters and City Clerk Donna Bussey were absent. 2. Approval of the minutes of the BMRC meeting of September 13, 2007. Motion: Approve minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of September 13, 2007. Motioned by Fisher, seconded by Quinif Motion carried unanimously 3. Interview new applicants for the vacancy for one alternate on the Code Enforcement Board. A. New Applicants: 1. Ellen Glasser 2. Maria Mark The committee interviewed two new applicants for a vacancy as an alternate on the Code Enforcement Board. They included Ellen Glasser and Maria Mark. The functions of the Code Enforcement Board were explained, as were the responsibilities of board members. Each candidate provided a summary of their background and why they were interested in serving on the Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement Board. After the two applicants were interviewed and left, the Board considered all of the applicants that had been interviewed for the Code Enforcement Board. These included not only the two interviewed on October 11~' but also Veda Bernstein and Curtis Sanders who were both interviewed on 8/17/06 and Ed Raube who was interviewed on several occasions. Some questions were raised about whether or not anyone had checked with Ms. Bernstein to see if she was still interested in serving on the Code Enforcement Board. Motion: Recommend appointing Veda Bernstein as the alternate member on the Code Enforcement Board provided that someone checks with her to see if she is still interested in servin~• Motioned by Quinif, seconded by Fisher Motion carried unanimously Board Member Review Committee Page 2 October 11, 2007 The Committee also discussed the possibility that Ms. Bernstein is no longer interested or available to serve. Motion: If Ms. Bernstein is no loner interested or available to serve, recommend appointing Ellen Glasser as the alternate member to the Code Enforcement Board. Motioned by Russell, seconded by Fisher Motion carried unanimously 4. Discuss next meeting agenda and date Mr. Hanson reported he does not anticipate a meeting in November because of Commissioner Waters being out of office and awaiting the new commission to appoint someone else.
