AGENDA ITEM: Extension of Annual Contract for Trimming Palm Trees

BACKGROUND: The City's current contract with Shaw's Tree Service, LLC for palm
tree trimming of the Atlantic Boulevard Medians Mayport Road Flyover
and Town Center expires on January 15, 2008.
We have contacted Mr. Chris Muchata, Project Manager of Shaw's
Tree Service, LLC, and he has agreed to extend the current contract for
another year at the current price of Cabbage Palm Tree $18.00 each,
Washingtonian Palm Tree $ 18.00 each and Medjool (Date) Palm Tree
$50.00 each.
The City has the option of extending the current contract for two (2)
one year periods. This proposed extension will be the first.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign an extension to the
contract for palm tree trimming for one year at the current prices.
ATTACHMENTS: Letter signed by Chris Muchata, Project Manager of Shaw's Tree
Service, LLC, agreeing to the extension.
BUDGET: Total budget for Fiscal Year 10/1 /07-9/30/08 is $2,150 for Atlantic
Blvd. Medians in account 001-5002-541.34-00, $9,250 for Town Center in
account 001-5002-541.34-02 and $2,725 Mayport Flyover account 001-
5002-541-34.03.

As you are aware, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for Palm Tree Trimming expires
on January 15, 2008.
We v~-ould like to extend the contract for another year at the current prices, if this is acceptable to
your company. if acceptable, please sign below and return to me before December 17, 2007, so I
can prepare a stalfreport for the City Commission to accept the extension.
We look forward to recommending that we continue our contract with your company.
