AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, SOLID
WASTE AND RECYCLING, ARTICLE I, SOLID WASTE DEFINITIONS
AND PROCEDURES, SEC. 16-10 FEES FOR COLLECTION, BY ADDING
NEW SUBSECTIONS ESTABLISHING FEES FOR ADDITIONAL
GARBAGE PICK UPS AND TOTERS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the current franchise agreement for gazbage collection in the City provides
one (1) day per week pick up and one (1) toter per household, and
WHEREAS, some residents of the City have requested either an additional garbage pick up
each week or an additional toter at certain households, and
WHEREAS, the fees for collection contained in Sec. 16-10(1) of the Atlantic Beach Code
of Ordinances are for once per week pickup and one (1) toter per household, and
WHEREAS, additional pick ups and toters will necessitate additional fees which must be
established by ordinance; therefore
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE
OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
SFC:TinN 1 _ The Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, is hereby
amended by adding new subsection (a) to Sec. 16-2, and adding new subsections (a) and (b) to Sec.
16-10(1), which subsections shall read as follows:
Sec. 16-2. Solid waste collection.
(a) Excess Gazbage -Any residential unit which routinely generates more garbage than
can be contained within the supplied toter, may be required to obtain a second toter for
gazbage collection. Routinely is defined as more frequently than once per month. The
second toter will be billed at the rate listed in Section 16-10.1. The city will first notify
residents who aze generating excess waste by letter. If the excess continues, the resident
will be required to add a second toter for gazbage collection.
Sec. 16-10. Fees for collection.
All residents, occupants and owners of premises in the City shall have
accumulations of solid waste removed and disposed of by the franchise, and for the

service of solid waste removal shall pay the City the sums as promulgated by
Ordinance shown below for each type of service.
1. Residential: monthly payments sha11 be computed by multiplying
the initial number of residential units in the service area times $17.10 per household
for garbage, recycling, and yard waste.

adoption.
