My son Andrew is iaa the 10th glade at Fletchez High School and a proud member of the Fletcher Higb~ School Marching Stand as well as currently the fast chain trumpet in the FHS Wiw~d B~esemble. Tn mid-Januazy, he traveled to Tampa as one of 16 trumpet playezs selected foz the All-State Band. Xou may have seen the press releases or even received one of ow fundraising letters in the mail regarding the Fletcher Higb- School Band being selected to represent the State of Florida is the 2008 National Independence Day Parade. We are vme o£only 25 bands from around the country selected to participate in this event aid THE OFFICIA,I, REPRSEIVTATIVE for the state v£Florida. It is crunch time. We have less than two weeks to raise or have pledged the additional funds that we need to AaaJce this dream become a reality for our students. We have raised approximately. $38,000 of the 550,000 cost of the trip, leaving us about $12,000 shy of _' our goal. This is not just another band trip. This is a once in a lifetiwae opportunity foz our local school to represent the beaches, Jacksonville and Florida on a national Ievel. We need to make this happen! And to do so, we need yow help. We are at a critical point iua our fundraising efforts if we aze going to make this trip a reality for Fletcher, for Jacksonville and for the State of Florida. Our childte~alband participants are a great example of the positive outcomes of public educatioaa, and Fletcher has an outstatadiwg track record far participation and excellence im performing azts programs. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase the talents, spirit and achievements of our students, but we can't do so without the finaxacial support of the community. The issue now is that our clock is ticlcang and we knave minimal time to achieve ow goal. Our students are heavily involved in competitions, cuzriculum re4uire~meztts, SAT and " FSA,T, and FCAT and are not in a position to walk the neighborhoods or undertal~e car washes and~weekend fundraisers. We aze in critical need of support and hope that " making specific requests will help us raise the foods necessary to put our children -our band -our community - in Y7C iua July. ~, 1 am asking your help in a very specific way -Please make a $3,000 donation to this ~- worthwhile cause.
