Present: Present: Laurie Melancon, chair, Chris Garrard Avery Go2lz, Jolyn Johnson, John Longbottom, Ingrid McCawley, Lynn Roskein, ,Tim Johnson (city liaison), Karen Kempf (recording, Absent: Mark Howard, Lori Gagnon, Hiatt Woods 1. Chair Melancon called the meeting to order at 7:00. 2. Cris Garrard & Lynne Roskein, new committee members were introduced. 3. Ingrid moved that the meeting minutes from Feb. 26, 2008 be approved. Jolyn seconded the motion and the minutes were unanimously approved by the committee. 4. Grant Request Presentations for 2008-09 budget consideration. a. Juliann Gaus-Graeser presented information regarding the Atlantic Beach Elementary Enrichment Program. Juliann gave an update on the 3 fall, winter and spring programs supported by the 2007-08 budget allocation from the City of Atlantic Beach. The program is operated by one full-time employee and volunteers. The program is not financially funded by the Duval County School Board. The programs serve 388 students and they offer 10% scholarships. Juliann asked that the City once again fund the program at $16,500. 5. Kristin Archon, Asst. Principal. Mayport Middle School presented information about two new programs at Mayport Middle School: a Drama production for St Judes Foundation and support for an art club to be held before and after school. Kristin requested $14,000 to support these two programs with supplies and production costs. The programs will be run by two qualified drama and art teachers and volunteer. The grant request would help support Mayport Middle School's effort to become a magnet and feeder school for Fletcher in the dramatic arts. 6. Ongoing Business a. Events and Updates i. Arts in the Park - Jolyn reported to the committee that over 60 artists would be at the event due to `call to artists' in a number of publications and website information. She informed the committee that display ads would be in the three newspapers, tee shirts for sale and for volunteers were ordered. Box lunches will be provided to artists from Beach requested Teen Council support with volunteers for the pazks event as well as support from the advisory committee. Layout map of vendors in the park was reviewed by the committee. Jolyn asked for a Friday meeting with Lynn and M~tr>~tO r~reev~iew the best placement of tents and canopies. Tee shirts with Mark's park imageTiave been ordered. Songwriters' Concert -John reported that 8 songwriters were bumped on the previous Sunday night at Songwriters' Concert. Acoustic Nights had 118 people at the outdoor event. ii. Teen Council -Avery & Hiatt reported that they are planning a day at the beach for the end of the year. Teen Council will help with water sales at the Arts in the Park. 7. New business -Budget 2008-09 a. The Committee reviewed last yeaz's budget. Tim asked them to take into consideration that the city is under budgetary constraints again this year but the Committee should include all programs and events that they consider to be important to the Atlantic Beach community. The Committee reviewed the previous years' events and finalized a proposed budget for 2008-09. Jolyn moved that the Committee accept the following proposed budget. Ingrid seconded the motion and the proposed budget was approved unanimously.
