Board Member Review Committee Meeting
March 13, 2008
Call to order
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Mike Borno at 5:10 pm. Those in
attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Mike Borno (Chairman), City Manager Jim Hanson, Member
Jim Smith, City Clerk Donna Bussey, Recreation Programs and Special Events Director Timmy
Johnson, and Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee Chair Laurie Melancon (arrived
late). Member Glen Fisher was absent.
Members Borno and Hanson gave an overview of the Board Member Review Committee's
process to new member, Jim Smith.
1. Approval of the minutes of the BMRC meeting of January 10, 2008.
Motion: Approve minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of January
10, 2008.
Moved by Borno, seconded by Hanson
Motion carried unanimously
Timmy Johnson reported on upcoming activities and events for 2008.
Chairman Borno explained there are two vacancies on the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory
Committee.
Interview new applicants for the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee

B. Drew Davie
C. Meade Coplan
D. Jesse Dattilo
E. Cris Garrard
F. Nancy Dent
G. Lynne Knecht Roskein
The Committee interviewed each applicant separately. The purpose of the interview and an
overview of the duties and responsibilities of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory
Committee were provided, along with examples of the various programs. They explained their
personal accomplishments, goals and interests in the community. The Committee offered each
the opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions.
After the interviews were completed, the Committee discussed each candidate. The Committee
decided they would recommend three names by ranking order to the Commission for
consideration even though there are only two vacancies.

Recreation Advisorv Committee to fill an unexpired term endinE July 8, 2008

Motion: (#3 Choice) -Recommend appointing Jonathan Daugherty to the Cultural Arts
and Recreation Advisory Committee to fill an unexpired term ending July 8, 2008

Motion carried unanimously
Chairman Borno explained his desire to send a letter to those candidates interviewed but not
appointed to the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee thanking them for their
interest in serving the community. It was agreed to send those letters and to urge them to get
involved through volunteering for subcommittees, etc.

There was no other business to discuss.
