AGENDA ITEM: Uniform Rental and Cleaning for Ciry Employees

BACKGROUND: In accordance with the Northeast Florida Public Employees' Local
630 Agreement with the Ciry, we are required to furnish and clean
uniforms for Ciry bargaining unit employees required to wear
uniforms.
The City's current contract is with Unifirst Corporation. The
contract expires on July 31, 2008. We have contacted Mr. Richard
Basso, District Service Manager of Unifirst Corporation. He has
agreed to extend the contract for another year at the current prices.
The City has the option of extending the current contract for two 1-
yearperiods; this will be extension number one.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the contract for one year at the current cost, which is
estimated at $9,500.
BUDGET: This is budgeted in the 4400 accounts of several
departments/divisions: Streets and Maintenance, Stormwater,
Parks, Water Production, Sewer Treatment, Water Distribution,
Sewer Collection, and Finance.
ATTACHMENTS: Letter signed by Richard Basso, District Service Manager, Unifirst
Corporation agreeing to extend the contract for one year at the
current prices.

Dear Mr. Basso:
As you are aware, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for uniform rentals expires on
July 31, 2008. We would like to extend the contract for another year at the current prices, if this
is acceptable to your company. If acceptable, please sign below and return to me before June 23,
2008, along with a current Insurance Certificate naming the City of Atlantic Beach as certificate
holder. Once I receive these I can prepare a staff report for the City Commission to accept the
extension.
We look forward to recommending that we continue our contract with your company.
