BACKGROUND: The Public Utilities Department purchases HTH for disinfection at
the water and wastewater plants. Bids were advertised, and invitations sent to seven
vendors. Two bids were received.

The low bidder meeting all requirements was Univar USA, Inc. Costs are 16% higher
than our existing prices.
BUDGET: Funds for HTH are included in the Water and Sewer Treatment funds in
the amount of $10,000 under account nos. 400-SS02-S33-5200 and 410-SS08-S3S-5200,
and the additional costs should be able to be absorbed since we are near the end of the
fiscal year.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the annual contract for HTH to Univar USA, Inc. in
the amount of $142 per 100 pound container.
