UNIpN NEGOTIATION MEETING
AUGUST 8, 2008
The negotiation meeting was called to order at 9:02 am. Those in attendance were:
City: George Foster, Chief Negotiator (Human Resource Manager)
Mike Classey, Negotiator (Police Captain)
Union: Nate Ingram, Executive Director
Johnny Bingham, Staff Representative
The City discussed with the Union their July 18, 20081etter that was sent to the City Commissioners.
The City advised the Union that it may not be in the best interest of the Union or members for the Union
to communicate with the City Commission while negotiations are being conducted. After discussions on
this subject, the City requested that the Union provide a copy of any future correspondence that may be
sent to the City Commission to the City Negotiator.
2. The City provided the Union with the City's proposed changes to the October 2007 contract with the
major items being:
a. Art 6. Deletion of Union Time Pool
b. Art 7. Deletion of information on seniority
c. Art 9. Deletion of "just cause"
d. Art 9. Clarification that Art 9.4a and Art 9.4b do not constitute disciplinary action
e. Art 12. Changes to Holiday pay
f. Art 17. Changes hours of work to 84 per 14 day work period
g. Art 17. Changes overtime to hours worked over 86 per 14 day work period
h. Art 18. Deletes detailed language and refers to City policy
i. Art 26. Deletes restrictions on hiring above base pay for new employees
3. The next negotiation session was established as August 27, 2008 at 9:30 am in the City Commission
Chambers.
4. Adjournment.
The meeting adjourned at 10:15 am
